Back in another LR, yesterday I picked up a 19 year old Disco 2 V8, which has been converted to dual fuel.

In the past I have had 2 x Defender TD5 90's, a Disco 200TDI, 300TDI, 2 x D2 TD5, 2 x Freelander 2's, 2 x Disco 3 diesels, a P38A Diesel, a L322 Diesel and L405 V8 Diesel.

That said serious off roading was done in a 1979 Merc G-Wagon that was prepped for the job with a lift and MT's and was crusty enough that another scrape on the body work just added patina, sadly it rotted away as they do and was broken for parts.

Was amazed by what my L322 would do off road with standard tyres as I took to an off road course near Bala when the G's fuel pump was on the blink

Have been wanting to get back to green lanning and this is principaly what the D2 is for, its only done 57k miles and for at least the last 12 years its had very light road use.

Would love to connect with another LPG V8 dual fuel owners to compare notes.

Have lightly off-roaded one of the defenders and the L322 but never a Disco so I am looking forward to seeing what it will do and learning its foibles

First issue today is that the V8 Alloys and tyre size mean there are no MT tyres available only AT's the current tyres are 255 55 R18's, might need to get some different wheels

Hi and welcome!

Don’t forget some pics of the new disco. We like pics! Especially once you start spending money on it and changing things… it’s a slippery slope once you do start too!

Pictures as requested, its a late 2004 ES Premium V8 auto, I don't think I have ever seen a Disco 2 with some wood veneer, 57k miles, 2 owners, last owner for 12 years, its in very tidy condition for a 19 year old vehicle, everything appears to work as it should.

I am debating having the LPG conversion removed, standard fuel tank was removed and replaced with a 60 ltr LPG tank and 20 ltr petrol tank

Looks nice! What's it like underneath?
I'd remove the LPG, before too long you'll find it hard to get if not already. Plus no worry about it making a mess of the engine

It looks pretty good underneath superficially, will get on a lift this week and check properly, Kermit-rr I see you are based in North Shropshire, all the LPG pumps have gone in Oswestry, my local town, its north Wrexham, Shrewsbury or Montgomery to fill up all at least a 40 minute run, given I don't think my mileage will be over 2500 pa I think it makes sense to remove the LPG system.
