So, in answer to my first (Sensible!) question, does anyone know who can delete my account?

In answer to your question (although it has been answered many times already). Neither you, nor anyone else can delete your account. It is LZ policy not to delete Accounts. You can only stop posting. If you wish, one of the mods can ban you for life, which would have the same effect, but would still leave all of your posts to haunt you for ever.
