Had the old disco with water leaking past the window and door seals - photos somewhere (not on this laptop though).

This one ain't been off road yet, its only managed about 700 miles on road since we got it and this is the third time its broken !

I've got a waterproof V8, finally! :D

I'll give you a video here to show the basic idea, although there is a little misfire after.

I now have a set of very nice leads, and last weekend it did this sh*t deeper and for longer, and didnt even miss one beat - i was absolutely overjoyed!

mods:

quality leads
usually new/newish plugs
white greased coil top
dizzy removed, full silicone sealed underneath etc, replaced (obviously)
dizzy cap sealed, and push fit fittings fitted, supplying fresh air fed from breather system, and vacuum evacuation courtesy of 3.5ltr 8 cylinder reciprocating air pump (connected to inlet mani vacuum hose)
HT leads cable tied round dizzy, coil and plugs, to keep water from entering the boots

Thats more of a splash than a swim/wading. Have your done anything to ya fan?

Trust me, it would have cut out if it weren't protected somewhat.

Anyway, i have now waded it for about 100 yards in that depth at parkwood 4x4, for a reasonable amount of time.

I'm just pleased my mission is complete and that it CAN be done!

And yes, it has electric fans :D

yeah defo, my v8 cut out if i went through puddles quick. Was ok wading slowly though.Wet carpets?

Mine was still a bit missy even with a fully sealed dizzy until I changed to good quality leads with a new set of plugs. Then it was unbelievable. We were deep wading at a good pace at parkwood, then hit a waterhole in the middle of the pond that sent water onto the roof, and when the water settled back down to the bottom of the screen we realised the motor was still powering away - only when it dragged us up the bank at a good pace and the exhaust emerged did I realise it hadn't started missing!

Must get some footage next time.

I don't have carpets in, there's no point becuase I have built mine as an off roader. It is quite well sealed though despite all the repairs/rust - we can sit in water up to the mirrors for up to a minute and it probably makes it to about 3 inches deep inside.

Good fun, but sure does make a mess of everything inside and out :(

cheers, sam
