I have a nasty suspicion that I'll be separating the transmission this year as I have a very grumbly release bearing. Whilst I'm in there I guess I may as well replace the DMF and clutch.

Given my recent grumblings about the use of the term OEM* and given that there are a thousand and one alternatives out there, what do people recommend?

*No, i'm not going to buy a DMF or clutch in Landrover boxes:p

I will watch from the side line as I will be doing mine at some point, I get a loud rumble sometimes when
the clutch is fully depressed & my biting point is rather low but no slippage I did see kits for under 400 squids
on bgay about a month ago I'm sure they were valeo?? I did fit a borg & beck clutch to my defender (300tdi)about
2 years ago & ive had no issues with it & I use that for towing.

Grumbly release bearings are very common, even when just changed. I would be looking for other reasons before going to the effort and expense of changing the DMF and clutch.

Valeo is OEM and that's what I just replaced mine with. I am Storm Tuned to stage 2 with 265 75 muds on modulars and it handles it very well. Doesn't slip or anything. While you have it out get a rear crank seal and sump gasket and replace those too, maybe worth doing the oil pump bolt too while you have the sump down?
