Up **** creek.
Hi guys, Ive recently replaced my Y downpipe complete with cats to my 3.9 V8efi disco1 however i have noticed that on the drivers side where the manifold meets the downpipe there is a slight gap. Ive tightened it up as much as i can but i can feel and hear the gasses escaping from between the manifold and the down pipe, Ive even tried to carefully apply some gungum around the area trying not to get any falling inside the pipe where it can apparently knacker my new cats which was great for a short time but as soon as i give it some welly it blows the gungum off and sound crap again, i was wondering could i slacken the pipe, add perhaps 2 gaskets and then tighten it back up to solve the problem? And if so where can i get some online i couldnt find any at paddocks? cheers fellas!

I bought a pair from the Dealers, Not much money. :)

Where did you get your cats from and how much? I need some to get through an MOT next week.

From Ebay - Item number: 370142685332 - They are £200, 1/2 the price i got quoted for the original Landover part, there were 2nd hand ones on ebay also but you dont know how long theyll last.

To be honest i noticed the difference in weight between the 2 parts when i was checking it against the old one, the Landrover one being slightly heavier i presume due to thicker metal being used, you can definately hear the sound of the engine resonating through more now which is a little bit of a shame - still thats what you get for 1/2 price. I then added a Janspeed cat-back sports system and am now REALLY happy with the result, a lovely low V8 rumble which always turns heads:)
