Where to buy- "recon" cyl head?

My 2 cents worth........ Land Rover offered me a recon head. Given that cracks around the injectors are a problem (injectors 2, 3 & 4 for me), I decided to stump up the cash for the Turners head, as the recon head potentially may still have underlying issues..

Quality cylinder head company Ltd Cornwall, ?

Does anyone have experience of either or alternative co.

Of course would like new from turners but money N/A just now.

Cheers.

thanks tom, cyl head par, cornwall say they cut out and weld up each injector port to "guarantee" no more probs but locally Iam told welded heds will eventualy leak again due to the internal tension set up within the alum. casting post welding, at half the price ....
but boy I don't want this again BUT car cost 8400 Euro, 2003, 100, 000 miles, auto?!, and have already spent on ground crnk, con rod, oil pump.timing sprokets and chain, 3000, getting rediculous...in so deep logically need to spend the rrest and kep it forever.

Disagree to botch it and flog it, we wouldn't like to buy a botched one so do unto others...

Thanks for the link, Wigan engine services, I asked the guy about the welding of heads, since it seems most of the heads that are re con wil have been cracked.
He says he would not weld, doesn't like the idea, BUT in the ad they go on to say that youmust send your head in, regardless of condition, cracked or not... so why do they want a craked head if they don't weld them, trouble is I'm becomming paranoid, any way 700 pounds... but this ones an earlier head do able but ... well bugered if I know what top do, 500 issh for a recon gead ? worth the risk..? 1200 for a turners...??

In the same boat at the mo. Broken stud extractor and crack in No. 2 so recon or 1200 for a new turner head and fixing kit.

I went through this a couple of years ago - recon was unreliable so ended up with a Turners head - now done an additional 160,000km and no problems. Spend the money well once not twice on a recon and then a replacement.

Hi All, new guy here, late 2002 TD5 Disco, bought from car dealer and 4 weeks later cracked fuel rail diagnosis. got dealer to pay for it instead of under sale of good act returning vehicle option. - Gone for an AMC head new from tuners, 2 year unlimited mile warranty. should be finished thursday - keep your collective fingers crossed!

Well progress report - I got my head from a really helpful and knowledgeable chap call Ian Richards of Quality Cylinder heads in Par, Cornwall and it has reinforced thicker seats and is gaurentee for 12 month and is just the job.

Very happy with the service and the product.
