i am trying to get my 2000 p38 to accept its eka code due to my fob suddenly not working. however when i do my initial 4 unlocks, it dosent recognise them. so theres no flashing lights or alarm beeps, nothing.
i then try entering my code, but still nothing. ive tried every combination possible, currently got my rf receiver ariel unplugged aswell.
does the door lock send a signal to something,to tell it ive done the 4 unlocks?
could it be a break in a wire?
now i think about it, recently, when i open my drivers door, the interior light hasnt been coming on every time, only occasionally.
would i also be better off upgrading the rf receiver?
thanks guys.

cheers gav, ive already set the windows, i'll take of door card tomorrow and try to find the microswitch and plug. that could explain why it wont let me start the eka process, but any ides why its happening in the first place? there seems to be 2 issues, 1, the fob dosent work, 2, the car wont let me start the eka code.
do you remember helping me out about 6 weeks ago with this problem, it just righted itself the morning after.
cheers mate.

yea, i remeber, if its loosing the eka its either the becm, ferked, or more likely a power loss of somekind. when/if you have time, go round as many ecu's as you can find in the car and check the connections. give em a spray with some elec cleaner see if that helps. its got to be a faulty connection somewhere. i'm not sure which one controls the alarm but no doubt someone will pop up and tell ya!

have you checked the battery?

battery good, still got power and has never drained.ive had it disconected today, and tied the pos and neg terminals together, just the same though when re-connected.

dude i have had this problem i found if you unlock all the door manually and close all the windows and bonnet wait one hour and try the code it should work, if not the most common problem is the micro switch in the drivers door they are about £125.00 to buy and a total pain in the arse to fit, but with a bit of time and patiences you can do it (dont shut the door when its all disconected as the door will not be able to open again) also make sure the battery has enough charge. i hope this helps

i've tried the unlock doors and waiting thing, along with lots of other variations. fiddled with the microswitches, still dosent work so they could be dud. ive spent all week trying to trace the fault, so one more try tomorrow, then its low loader time to lr, bite the bullet and get totally ripped off! i'll keep you all posted.
cheers.
