where did the notion that the doors fall off start?

If I search doors falling off Ill get post after post from the non landrover owners who like to post up :search: reply,and the old favorite wait till the doors fall orf :hysterically_laughi cracks me up
 
I read a couple of different rumours on here a bit ago, but i don't think anyone could decide which rumour it was.

Wasn't one to do with someone washing theirs and then reversing somewhere with a door open?
