Crikey. Whats the correct way to go up that then without that happening?

slooooooooooooooooooowly inch by inch ...........

the previous bloke who tried it backwards wasnt far off either - frontwards you have the weight of the engine all too ready to turn you turtle, and backwards if easy to steer out of it

I tend to agree with Sean - the prob with going balls out is if it goes wrong, you havent got any time to consider your options and things go wrong pretty damn quickly.

the thing you need if you are gonna drive like that is a roll hoop at least (a cage would be better) and as red said you should always walk an obstacle before you drive it so you know what you are getting yourself into

when done fast though correctly you use your momentum to keep you going

Momentum, a reasonable amount, can take you over axle-twisters, through gloopy stuff and mud, but won't do much, other than hurt, when there's a big feck-off step right at the very top of a climb ...

so the other thing.. once he realised he wasn't gonna make it what should he have done? or is it too late by then cos he was gung ho.. in which case what would you do if you were doing it properly but ran out of power or traction?

if he'd still been pointing straight upwards he should have taken both feet off the pedals and driven it straight backwards down the hill using the engine for braking - if he'd have taken it steady up to that step just below the top, then once the fronts were over it then given it the beans he might have made it - the speed he drove up at, and hitting the step put the vehicle in the air in an impossible angle to recover from

Ya know what Sean.................. ya took the words right out of my mouth there ..............:D:hysterically_laughi

I think it is like the ramp on the end of an aircraft carrier - he was lucky it dint just somersault backwards. I think there were two probs -
with the front wheels up in the air - he had no control over the attitude of the vehicle
at that speed things change so fast it is difficult to assess options and choose.

No ya can't

There wasn't anyone else in the landy and the guy crawled out the rear door and walked away from it. The A Posts snapped and the roof was forced onto the steering wheel and the dash snapped in half.

The landies bee rebuilt and he's still doing the pay and play sites in it.

It does look like his leg came out the alpine light at the end, though..

Do you know this guy personally ?
