ever been off road in it?Had the samething today with me works slitty.lump of mud had stuck to the inside of the alloy taken the wheel out of balance

not recently. had the wheels balanced yesterday but still wheel wobble i have being told that i might need spacers i think the wheels are off a new range rover

You will need the hub spacers and a new set of wheel nuts to go with these wheels - taking a HUGE risk running around with them on like that - an accident waiting to happen !

They're not spacers as such, they're centering rings, as the 18's have a bigger centre hole and tend to slop about on the hubs.

Geekfreek is right, you need centering rings or better known as spigot rings, do a search on ebay for rangerover spigot rings. There are 2 types on there at the moment plastic and aluminium, i had the aluminium ones for my wheels but you will need the wheel nuts as well to suit the wheels.

P38 have been designed to take upto 18 inches alloy rims. Maybe your wheel bearings are starting to give problems. Also check on the ball joints.

just wasted yer money then they take 18" anyway it will be the tyres balance them or check the tyres arnt shot somewhere but no need for spigot rings:D trust me

Made same mistake myself:eek:. Bought a set of 18" wheels off of a 2003 L322 ( new shape RR) and they are different:mad:. You will need new wheel nuts and spigot rings for them to fit the P38. All I have done is to have the new tyres fitted to the old wheels:mad:. Anyone out there want a set of wheels for a L322 cheap :):)

ive got 18's on mine, it odesnt need/ have room for spigot rings

i think you only need them if your wheels were originally fitted to a L332 whatever

as some say- p38 was designed to take 18's as an option

Regardless of the size, any wheels from a Mk3 L322 Range Rover (2002 on) will require the correct wheel nuts and spiggot rings if fitted to a P38 Range Rover.

The spiggot diameter on the hubs of a P38 is slightly less than those on a Mk3, so if spiggot rings are not fitted there will be excessive play resulting in wheel wobble and eventual FAILURE!!!

They only cost a few bob.

As already said by several posters spigot rings and correct wheel nuts are essential for the safe fitment of new shape range rover wheels to a P38 regardless of size
To those who are saying they are not needed - get your facts right before posting
THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE !!!!

once again thank you all. fitted the spigot rings and i had the correct nuts fitted much better and safe to drive its a joy!
no matter what anyone says you do need the spigot rings and the correct size wheel nuts, thanks to you all

Hi

Can anyone tell me if the same goes for wheels off a new Disco(square box model)
I bought a p38 off an independant dealer and the only other landy I have seen with the same wheels are the new Disco I have had vibration probs between 58-75
My local tyre place has balanced the wheels severlal times and is now askin me if the P38 was designed to have hub bearing wheels or lug bearing wheels, he thinks more likely hub bearing in which case I too need spacers/spiggots as the wheels of the New Disco has a larger hub diameter
would i have any redress on the dealer as it still has 2 days left on the 3 month warranty, plus the wheel brace dont fit and i need 5 different nuts for the spare which is probably original

Thanks in advance for any advice

Yeah, I'd say you do have a bit of redress with the dealer, depends on how much front you've got and what the dealer thinks of his reputation to get it sorted.

The inner hub diameter of P38 wheels is 70.1mm, on RR L322 and Disco III wheels is 72.6mm so you could measure them with a vernier gauge in the dealers presence and prove not fit for purpose.

Plenty of schiesters on eBay selling the spigot rings, 10p worth of steel for £20, but they are needed.
