How to determin correct offset needed with wider arches??

Hi Folks..
Following on from my other threads with likely hood of now keeping my 90.. wheel hit in accident etc, the next possible change is wheels.

I have 265/75/17 STT Pro tyres on old disco 1 alloys with spacers that i think are 25 or 30mm and these sit under terriferma extended arches but dont really look right as they dont fill them properly in my opinion.

I have been considering changing to modulars, mach5's or Zu / challengers.

I'm thinking 16x8 with offsett of either -32 or -35 but without having anything to try, or compare locally, i'm not sure how to decide, but dont want wheels sticking out beyond arches, just cresting nicely just withing the arch rim to look right.

Would any of you have pics of these set ups that you could share or a way i could determin offsett needed.

With that size tyre I don’t think any whee will “look right”. To get extended arches to look right you need some serious offset and size. I ran 35x12.5x15 on some 10” deep dish rims (cannot remember the exact offset) for a while and didn’t bother with extended arches. They were not legal but only sat outside and the standard arch by about 25mm.

I am currently running 265/75/16 on 8” ET +8 Modular’s. No spacers and they run fairly level with the edge of the arch.

I’d sort your axle/steering/bent chassis first. Then worry about wheels and tyres.

If you don’t like the look of the wide arches. Maybe either trimming them down or going back to standard arches would be a better option. Not saying you can’t go bigger tyres. But there are limits and downsides. Such as worse braking, more bump steer, more bearing wear, worse mpg, more strain on the PAS, reduced acceleration & performance.

Completely agree with the above. When I was running the 35” offsets a set of good quality Tonkin wheel bearing would last about 12 months so was constantly swapping bearings out and repacking and adjusting them.

recently got 265/75r16 cooper stt pro's on challenger 16x7 -25 offset rims, they protrude around 30 - 40mm maybe more at a guess but thats partially due to all the arches being dented inwards (ex dairy farm defender, cows headbutting the arches etc) so would expect they would sit nicely under your arches.
tried to photograph the poke, tucks up inside the arch nicely when flexed

How to determin correct offset needed with wider arches??
