Whats wrong with my engine

ok, your bits to find-

head gasket. elring or payen. not britpart or any other Chinese mass produced ****.
exhaust / inlet manifold gasket. not particular on make.
tube of exhaust paste. not a tub.
injector crush washers / sealing washers, x4
injector spill return banjo washers x 8 (cos someone lost some)
rocker box gasket (think its a rubber one, you took that off)
enough oil for a change (again)
oil filter (again)
sawdust :p

just realised I didn't look to see what thickness head gasket you need, will text you tomorrow.
also need to look at the state of that head bolt that was corroded/sooted up. may be worth getting a head bolt set.

plus anything else that others think I've forgot. :rolleyes:
if anyone wants to put part numbers to descriptions, feel free ;)
 
Aha....past pushrods yes? It's just me being stupid, I think of them as oilways and I got confused as I'm sure I remembered you saying similar in the past.

What's the proper term for the holes so I know for next time?

that bit is cam gallery ,oilway to me means ,tube ,drilling or gallery for oil delivery
 
Thank you, off to visit the parts shop at lunchtime.

This will be a challenge for the poor guy. Although the part numbers will help, thanks James. He keeps asking questions about parts when I go in, he just gets a blank look and me running off to phone Neil :D:D:D

dont forget to check and clean the piston tops when the engine is apart and inspect for cracks,broken pistons can be common....

cleaning will be done probly tonight, removal of gasket remnants, block top and head face stoned.
all visable bits will be inspected as far as reasonably practical.

Well I managed to get all that stuff except they didn't have the head bolts. Just it to clean up and it can go back together :D:D

Oh and they didn't have the paste so I had to go somewhere else. They wanted to know what kind :confused::confused: so I just told them what the job you are doing is. Nothing is ever simple :rolleyes::rolleyes:

yeah, it don't seem to have stopped for the last 3 weeks.

disco gearbox swap included in the weekend's shenanagans, which I don't think's been mentioned. (mate of a mate's job) it'd spat the transfer box input shaft out the back of the case. (i'll find a pic in a mo)

think at its peak there were 7 people and 5 jobs happening.

no problem mate. was on a mission to pick up a new diff for nick2303 had alot of fun rolling about under a disco today LOL
did you pick it up from johnny's in the end?

replacement box for the disco came from there, bloke who's motor I was doing gave 200 quid for it. (already picked up, saved me from doing it. quite nice really)
what sort of price are diff's going at now. (not that I've any left, kawac took me last one)
