The deepest I have driven is about 3ft. That was through a ford that was depth marked and had a good surface for traction. My air intakes are on top of the engine and I have also improved the waterproofing on the distributor & coil. I was still ****ed off when I got out of the ford though. I put my sat nav unit on the floor on the passenger side to stop it getting flung around the landy on some of the bumpy bits, but the door seals were about as waterproof as a tea bag, and the water was level with the top of the transmission tunnel :mad:
 
Water just over the front of the bonnet when the front end dipped down. Won't be doing that again. I could have broke'd it. :eek:
 
Did a local greenlane last night and that was touching first inch of the windscreen. Me foose box was loving it. Today's job dry everything out! Check elecys!
 
Over roof of a 109 Ambulance on River Mersey about 20 years ago.

Lost the vehicle after it got stuck in the sand near Crosby and tide came in. Sand suddenly became like glue, been on the same part before while filming with no problem.

Engine finally gave out when water was at my waist, I was still sitting in the driver's seat trying to get it out and did not have a wading kit installed.

Had to go down next day to recover with a tractor, it had been dragged 200 yards and rolled over by the sea. Police did not want it floating and striking the Russian tall ships that were due the next day, as it was still in it's full army ambulance camouflage!

Now I would never go beyond high tide mark unless travelling with another LR with recovery kit. :)
 
Risked a river crossing as deep as the bonnet, without any means of a snorkel in my 110! I had a devil on my shoulder and Was pretty foolish looking back but Ive fitted a safari snorkel now and can't wait to go a bit deeper!
 
When driving into a river near me that you can drive into and in around under a bridge and back out, have been upto the sills so far in my 110 as I'm kinda nervous of getting my ECU and electrics wet as I use it every day where I might have to turn around while in the water.

Water has been over the bonnet when diping into a river and have had a bow wave just level with the top of the bonnet in places where I had an escape route and able to keep moving.

That with 33" tyres, safari snorkel but standard TD5 breathers.

friends TD5 trayback has been half way up the doors with 2" lift suspension, maxi portals and 37" tyres :) now wave was up over the bonnet... Until got it stuck :p
 
Over the bonnet on a 300Tdi defender SW on an overland trip by ourselves.

We were told the crossing was safe for the Defender. River Kwai in Botswana. No I didn't walk it because there was six crocks on the surface.

Set off low range second, difflock in. Watching the splashes at the wheel arch.
SUDDENLY the water is over the bonnet as we drop....I did a full racing change inti first and booted it.
Came out like a dream

Aparently I hadn't been told how to cross there correctly...

A tour operator I know went through the same place weeks later
The Land Rovres had no problem

The six Toymotors floated down the river.

Yes I have a raised air intake. I still have the valve at the bottom. As long as the flap is free it should be alright

Headlight/shoe depth, no snorkel...

Went through one bit was only about 5" deep, went back to do it again, missed a turning and went through a different one by accident...

Wrecked my starter, alrternator, air filter, loads of mud in the air box!
 
This isn't the deepest I'd been, but it was pretty average for the depth I'd take my parents old 110 td through Driving our Land Rover through huge flood in Somerset - YouTube

There was one occasion a couple years previous when the water was spraying up like a fountain from under the doors and with my arm out the window resting on the inside of my elbow my hand was under water. The standing water was 2/3" below the bonnet, but making progress through the flood sent it easily over the bonnet and through the vents onto our laps.

It was pitch black mid winter and both head light bulbs burst when they hit the cold water so we drove back home (passing no one as the area flooded so badly) with a torch out the window and the interior light on!

I later found out the snorkel wasn't 100% water tight, but it must have been sealed well enough not to cause as much as a hiccup.

I haven't been right through this thread but I guess there are plenty of people giving it the 'I have been through 6ft before' bull****, this question always seems to attract them sort of answers, its like its the off roading equivalent of 'what's your best 1/4 mile time'. I can honestly say I have done about 4ft I believe at my deepest, that was just over bonnet height on my lifted 90, resulted in steamy window demisters and a bit of water on me knees through the heaters, surprisingly though I didn't have much more than a few inches inside but I did reseal all the floor panels and fit new door seals when I first got my 90... Anyway, a few pics of some I have done, not the deepest but still a respectable depth:

A river crossing down in wales, we couldn't see the bottom so I volunteered to go first, we did have a safety cable attached though just in case it was to deep or we hit traction issues:

and a nice little drive along Violets Lane, this is about 800m long and can get about another 1-1.5ft deeper quite easily:

theres a video about 90 mins long youtube about camel trophy, I seem to remeber a part in that when only the roofrack of a defender was visable when I crossed a river, still made it through
