Just thought Id add that I got mine from "winchsol" too, and that new solenoid box came and it is as good as new again. :D Nearest tree beware. :flame2:

Also they sent me a new circlip for free to fix my winch after I broke it, which they had to dismantel one of there winches for. I broke the winch whilst winching myself about 100m (no kidding) through clay, which took about 3 hours. And the reason it broke, was because the torque from the winch had twisted my winch bumper! (Winches rely on the bumper for there structure). So thums up to winchsol for after service.

My cheap ebay winch has been fantastic. 12000lbs wirless for £230, it has winched and winched and winched.

It saved my bacon, seriously, my fridge was full of bacon and it would have gone really bad if if it was still there in the middle of the Sahara :D

That wireless remote is also pretty fooking handy...

Yes I have a warn, cause I like shiny expensive stuff :) But that is Woods767 standing next to my landy, and the cables holding my landrover upright go to his cheap chinese winch controlled by a cheap wireless remote control, couldn't have got off the dunes upright without his winch :D

Oh a side note is the Synthetic winch rope really worth the money?
100ft Synthetic Winch Rope, Hawse & Hook, Dyneema SK60 on eBay (end time 20-Nov-10 09:04:00 GMT)

I got a flat type of winching rope at the LRO show for £40, I did snap it at Bures trying to get out of a muddy bog. However that was down to the rope catching on bit where the drum meets the sides of the winch.
Still have an old wire rope which i could use but been told the synthetic rope is best. Why is this?

Chris

Ah ok, the flat rope i have is a bit like that. When it snapped it did ping back, but it moved at the same pace as if my 4 year old cousin had tried to throw it.
Do they spool evenly on to the drum? This is the man problem i have is when i winch in the rope stays at one end and builds up then get caught where the drum meets the casing.

never had any trouble with mine bud. loads nice and even on the drum. i did used to have that trouble on an old work winch tho. i unwound it fully and taped a piece of rubber seal around both sides of the drum. it ment the sides were higher and so it forces it to load more evenly.

if that makes any sense? haha

Chris, did you or Mike say that yours is mounted between the chasis? so a winch bumber is not required? I like the look of having the winch concelled.

solved the problem and just bought a m8274-50 of flebay with a damaged case for £230
modified the way it mounts and job sorted
the two lugs wer snapped and ive come up with a way to repair them and maby even make them stronger than standard I persume its quite a common problem
ill put a how too post on here wen its complete
