Hi,
Some theiving scum bag (who I have nick named Thursh, becasue he's an irritating c*^t) stole my beloved Landie on Tuesday night.
It has been recovered but has been written off by my insurance company.
Now I'm preparing for the fight to get what I beleive is a fair pay out from them.
It is a 1996 (P) 90 300 Tdi hard top with 106,000 miles and in good condition.
What do you think I should be getting paid out? I can't find a similar Landie for less than £5,000.

Any opinions welcome

Thanks

Justin

It wouldn't be the first time an insurance assessor has wanted to write off a vehicle so he can buy it cheap himself to fix up.

I reckon that's what the insurance assessor did to my Disco II. I got the same as what I paid for it in the end but was about 2K cheaper than anything else that age. I was told to reject the first offer but stupidly I accepted. :(

just get 3 or 4 adverts for a similar age/spec motor and hld out for that - I did and got more than i thought :D.

either that or google "insurance write-off buy back company" - and ask them - they have no axe to grind and will give yu a realistic valuation.

I was told it was written off, but when I questioned this the insurance company (Admiral) denied this! It is now at an 'approved' crash repaier awating it's fate.
Damage isn't tood bad (passneger door, near side sill, both locks, gear knob and low range knob) but it was really ragged off road and I'm worried about the unseen damage!

My 99 Discovery V8 was written off in April, I was offered £5000 for it, a lot more than I paid in the first place. I also have a Rover 75 written off by the insurance and never collected.

Andy.

Kinell, they only paid £3,600 for mine and it was a 99 V8 too! and it was mint! I think I got shafted by the insurance! :(:(

It's Christmas, do you heathens have no respect for the Holy Day?
Is it all about personal greed and consumerism?

I'm a pagan...every days a holy day :D:D:D how much did you spend to celebrate your 'holy' day?

Christmas is not about money and if you wish to put a price on it-not that I do

£150
Food shopping at lidl
Gifts (sister,aunt,neighbours)
donation to charity
donation to church.
Sister spent the same I believe on near to it.

There is no need to spend hundreds -a simple gift as a gesture.
Sister bought me a train ride-nice gift I will enjoy.
Mother is in a nursing home and wouldn't know what day it is-box of chocolates or £1.89 cake.

So the guy leads a quiet life, not really doing any harm-well apart from disliking porn:doh:
