Ok, I'm having a dilemma, was out over weekend and got bogged down in my 90 defender, my m8 had to pull me out in his disco, i felt so ashamed lol, as he eased through with no problems, my question is am I better getting some bigger tyres ( I have 235/70 16 muds) for some 235/85s 16 giving me and extra 1 inch or should I look at upgrading my suspension as is very bouncy( if going quick around a corner can get my land meter to alarm) for some HD springs and good shocks ( terrafirma ) would the extra 2 inch drop on the shocks help keep traction, I'm new to green lanein/ off roading so any advise welcome

Doubt if either will make much difference, unless your issue is specifically to do with ground clearance.
Axle lockers do make a big difference in greasy conditions, but far and away the biggest factor is driver technique and experience, as your disco mate seems to have demonstrated.;)

Well funny u should say that, I have a rospa 4x4 driving qualifaction so I know My technique is good, but I'm never that big headed that I alway know best so after having another go and getting stuck again I got my disco m8 to have a go and he also got it stuck, the axles were bottoming out along with rear step (which has now been removed) my m8 has 235/85s 16 but is usually the one getting stuck, i measured the diffrence between axle and ground clearance but both pretty much the same, the only diffrence was he has just poly bushed his entire motor which is why I was thinking along the lines of suspension.

If you are sure you approached it in the best possible way, and that your vehicle is well set up, maybe it is just one of those places a landy wont go.
Tractor or a Unimog would make short work, but that is another story:D

How will suspension help if you're bottoming out?

Sounds like wheelbase issue .. one of those few places where 100" is better than 90" .. ;)

Unimog.. my dream off roader..

Sounds like a technique thing to me pal.. could maybe buy some sand ladders or jack it over with a high lift..

There will be times when your 90 will be far superior to your mates Disco ,on and off road

The first one that springs to mind is LOOKS :D
