whats a good battery

most batteries come with a 2 or 3 yr warranty so i just go for the cheapest from the local motor factors. if i get more than 3 yrs it's a bonus.

wheres the comparison with a butchers, you don't have to buy an optima or any of the other expensive brands. just go into a motor factors, tell em what car you have, they will tell you what it should have fitted and supply it to you. the battery is rated for the car but your not paying through the nose for it. can understand going for maximum cca for a diesel engine thats getting on a bit or is used in extremes but a relatively new freelander, even a diesel, you can stick with standard.

I fitted a cheapo "Vanfit" battery to my ex Disco 4 years ago, still fine when the ol girl went to new owner. We fit Varta batteries to the trucks that come in to us, pricey but reliable. My Moto Guzzis have Varta batteries, currently 8 years service and still very much ok. Try a local independant motor factor, believe me, the mark up on batteries is , well, a lot.

(100% quite common at dealerships etc)

Regards, Bill
