Hi all, I'm just about to change the gearbox oil in my disco and the square (sump?) plugs I have don't seem to fit the drain plug. Any idea what size I should ask for for at my local car factors? The Disco is a 1998 manual TDI.

Cheers!
Al

Hi Al, if I remember correctly, the level/fill plug is a Torx T55 bit and the sump plug is a 32mm ring spanner - you won't get a socket in there.

The transfer box uses the same 3/8 square bit for both sump and level/fill plug.

Definitely 1/2" for those big square 'inny' plugs.

My lt77 has had the torx fill replaced with a 9/16" AF plug, easier to spanner I guess.

Just fiddle around anyway OP but usually a big ratchet will just fit straight in :)
