hi all , sorry if this is always being asked on this forum, ive had a search in the forum and not come up with many answers.

i'm looking to take out my old defender seats and replace them with others without blowing the bank at a well known trim outlet.

I managed to get my hands on a pair of classic range rover seats, fitted on the runners, but when i sat in them my legs touched the dash and steering wheel (im 6ft 4)

i know that rover 200 seats fit well, but what what else will fit in without raming my knees in to the dash, will ford or vw golf seats fit.

I think you can make almost any seat fit if you make up a bracket to suit them but I'm not sure which ones leave you the most room. Citroen B.X seats are apparently good because they are in two parts so the base lifts off and you can get to the battery easily.

rover 220 coupe seats..

please note the ****ty brown carpet aint there anymore

ave seen seats outta rover 800s and saab 900s fitted as well with very little modification to the fixings

Thanks a lots for everyones answers, those rover seats look better that the trim shop ones !!

Wiltshire landyman are they a tights fit against the door? and how much moding did you have to get them to fit?

cheers wiltshire landyman

just managed to pick up a set of rover214 SEi seats on e bay for only 38 quid !

Ill try and stick them in when i get a chance, got to be better than my split defender ones !!!

Random one, i have noticed when looking at defs with non standard or bucket seats in, for starters most of them have had the rear bulkhead removed and after fitting it seems that your not infront of the wheel but left by about 2 or 3 inches, this also puts pedal alignment out as far as i can see, or am i just being annoying?

Broken link.

In my official capacity as a 6'2" x 110kg, 110 owner bear in mind any replacement seat will have to be as slimline as the original seats or have to be repositioned or you won't fit in once the seat is in. Hence moving back (b/head removal) or sideways. Moving driver left also put yer left leg right up against the unsympathetic hand brake lever.
