Another daft thought, but almost too obvious to mention - don't think the '93 had an immobiliser as factory standard - anything after market fitted?

Off to play with my rear diff breather now! Fitting a new output shaft seal next weekend, and need to check breather is ok first!!!

Good luck with all that SH, hope it all works well ;)

No immobiliser on mine but now fixed! After all that it was just a huge coincidence and it was the red and white wire that had jumped off the starter solenoid!
Fixing it was probably the hardest easy job you can do ... blind and fiddly as a kipper!

Made me laugh out loud!

We have 2 airedales, one still convinced he can eat his outdoor house and the skirting boards, so well acquainted with that chewed look!!!

Might actually get to drive mine tomorrow - he'll be on 'stuff to tip then stables duty' as usual at the weekend :bounce:

Great stuff ... friends have three Airedale show dogs but they don't like my Dalmatian :(

Goodness - and I thought 2 Airedales was a sign of madness!

Sadly plenty goes wrong with mine - the challenge is striking the balance between finding the time to sort myself or the pennies to pay someone to do it for me!

Read on here but cant find it now that our broadband wireless internet router is draining the power out of my battery overnight! But battery not always flat overnight. An intermittant fault.
 
you need to check wire from relay is coming live when turning key to start as you may disturbed relay earths or other wires starter solenoid wire will be red/white out of relay
 
You've got to check that you've got the main feed to the relay. with the ignition on, but not trying to turn engine over, there should be a live feed at the relay. The fact that the relay is clicking shows that you've got the live from the ignition switch and that the earth feed is also present. If you're not sure which wire is which, remove the relay from its base plug, with ign. on you should have 1 live feed. Turn key as if to start engine and the live feed from the switch should appear at 1 of the other terminals. Replace relay & turn key to pos. 3 again and a 3rd live should appear out of the relay on its way to the starter. I dont think i need to go any further down the line as it sounds too much of a coincidence that it could be anywhere else other than where you were "messing" (famous last words!)

sorry to but in on this one.
ive the same sort of prob, started doing this a couple of weeks ago, jump in it turn the key and it just clicks (sometimes) can jump in it again and it starts perfect.

stupidly i thought it were the starter, so bought a new one, put it on all was fine then the other day it started clicking again, so i took all the leads off cleaned them and wire brushed them, replaced them and all was fine till today!!!!!

a friend bumped started me, i got home and its starting again now.

ive a 1990 90, do these have a relay???? ive been told they dont??? but cant think what else i can do.

does anyone have any ideas??? other than a box of matches.
