Hi all, I have a 2.5 petrol defender 90, just topped up my oil and noticed some beige cream stuff under the oil cap, iwhat does this indicate and is it a problem? Any help greatly appreciated, thank you!

Before you go down that route, do you only use it for short journeys? In cold weather, that can cause condensation in the engine, which will produce the mayonnaise.

As said - are you loosing coolant? If so get a sniffer test done on the coolant. This will check for engine gases in the coolant.

thank you all for the replies, I recently topped up the coolant, I haven't had the vehicle long so I don't know if it is losing any, I will keep an eye on it. I do only usually travel short distances but I don't know what counts as a small or large amount of this stuff to count as condensation.

I used to have a problem with loss of power and engine stalling but I fixed that (the previous owner had put a thinner petrol line to the carb) but I don't know if it is still low on power as it showed improvement but unknown if it is running to top spec. I do only get about 14mpg but there are other things I was going to check to improve that so don't know if this is part of that problem.

I have a few options so thank you all for the assistance

it might be that it wasn't in tight, it does seem quite loose, I shall check that as well, thank you :D
