I do have a cooler but no stat, if I can make it fit there it is in the airflow so should cool it a bit? I won't fit the cooler unless I get a stat, didn't want a sandwich plate as it pushes the filter too close to the exhaust

This is the start of my lpg conversion, the sensors will give me a baseline so I can see what the engine does, I have a water temp gauge too

She's not bothered by what it looks like. Besides I'd get the job and buy the linseed oil, so I'll not suggest it to her. ;)
Crumbs Nodge, sorry mate, I texted her yesterday that you were doing a full valet inside and out.
Oh, and I think linseed oil may have been mentioned.

Sorry 'bout that mate.

Loaded it up with 5 bikes for a family bike ride on the Camel Trail.

It's a 2004 TD4 with a duff clutch, a few dings on the rear N/S and a scuff on the front bumper. 124k miles, already got the prop shaft off as giving a 1WUT approx 3 minutes. Also got the Isopon out for the rear dings.
Looks like the PO was a tradesman that used it for towing a lot hence the slipping clutch and lots of scuffs where a trailer het the bumper.
But it was cheap at only £950. :D

Oo a facelift. That looks nice Ali;)

Now can you tell me if you think the build quality of the interior is lower than the pre-facelife version? I have a plethora of squeaks and rattles on my facelift, that my 2001 V6 simply didn't have. The 01 V6 is therefor much quieter than my current 05 TD4. The later interior looks nice, but to me, it seems to be of a lower quality. Like some behind the scenes cost cutting went on. Your opinion would be most helpful.

Have to admit Nodge I had an 04 car before and never noticed it any noisier, but then it was a 1.8. I haven't driven this one enough to make any judgements but have always considered the quality of LR interior trim (and mechanicals for that) to be very poor, if you worked on an Audi of a similar age you would see a massive difference.
But then you probably already know that.

Definitely no comparison to an Audi which I reckon are about the best production fit-n-finish available. Even the wife's BMW E46 cabrio is rattle and squeak free.
Having had 5 pre-facelift and and 1 facelift Freelander. I can say that the facelift is definitely a lower standard. It looks better but inmo, it's definitely a lower standard of manufacture.
I'm going to do a trim by trim upgrade on my 05 SE. I love the facelift look, but not the fit-n-finish. So I'm going to spend some time and some money making it the way LR should have done it.

Sounds like a good plan. Now were coming into better weather it would be nice to be able to close the door with the window down without that horrible noise. o_O

It could be that it's a TD4 thing. I've only had petrol FL1s in the past. This oil burner is definitely more agricultural by comparison. Maybe the vibration shakes the trim loose in time? It's definitely going to get a quality makeover though.

I looked at many before I bought mine and chose mine because it was a late prefacelift, mostly based on hating the facelift interior more than I liked the facelift exterior, but wanting the upgraded engine, yes buying a 1.8 was a conscious decision

It seems cheap and more car like than what a 4x4 should be, preface have big chunky switches, ideal for when wearing gloves etc

I think the seats are slightly more comfortable in a face lift (S spec anyway, can't comment on other specs) Can't think of anything else I prefer about faclift cars.
