I've posted this elsewhere but I'm so please with myself thought I would do it again.
Finally fitted the swivel gators, and insured the 2A.
Renewal was £153, a comparison site got me down to £77, and. I bought through Quidco, so £36 Cash back.
Result ! 😁

Went to Burford yesterday morning.

SOLD.
Sold it after 26.5 years of ownership, it was just a replacement for my rusty 10 year old car RR, I didn’t need the disco after the first 2 year, the job I had for it landscape my new garden was now finished, but kept the disco as it as it was relatively issue free, also the company cars I have take the daily strain.
So off to my friendly JLR dealership who sold me an XE which I have now sold and they took the disco as part x on a “small” Jaguar as don't need the carrying capacity of a LR any more.

Photos: parked on route and the speedo outside the dealers.

I got carried away leak tracing and sealing with Captain Tolley and Tiger Seal, decided to rip out the upper windscreen over seal.

This might not have been too bad, but then I had a bonkage mishap when fitting the new one.
The good news is that the sealing work seems to have been a success, and I took the opportunity to upgrade to a heated windscreen. Here's hoping that it all works when my new Nanocom arrives and I can actually enable it.

While waiting for that, I've been working on my 3D printed replacement for the centre console switch panel, as well as replacements for damaged screw tabs

And you may notice I've upholstered the centre arm rest.

And finally, not exactly *on* the car, but D2 adjacent, I've got my new office chair all put together.

Looked at it sitting in the corner of my garden sulking because Im not paying it attention...... So Im leaving it for another 6 months.

So, I had to move the old Disco so I could do some strimming, but found the key fob wouldnt open the doors. Luckily one of the rear doors locks is knackered, so I still had a way in. None of the fobs would open the deadlocked doors, so found some helpful advice on here, located the fob receiver in the roof, and removed it. Had some rusting on the earthing bolt, but not much, so I was anticipating replacing the module. I cleaned up the bolts, and the earthing tab on the unit, and refitted with a smear of dielectric grease on the threads.... Bingo, the fobs worked again. Never underestimate just how little corrosion can cause a high resistance fault.

Just need to get the time to look at the smokey engine, which currently isnt smoking. Oh, and an MOT.

Started fitting a new air con fan motor on my son's Td5. Bit of a faff as he has front spot lamps and all the fan housing screws snapped. Just soldered the wires today and will refit the spot lights once I have painted the mounting bar.
Oh, changed the oil yesterday aswell.

Decided that I need to check the oil pump sprocket bolt on my 2000 TD5. First job was to remove the front crossmember. Air chisel, breaker bar and 2 hours of fighting with rusty bolts and it's done. Knocked the captive nuts off with air chisel so I can use bolts and nuts when putting the crossmember back.

Having just got all the bits to do the exact same job, and some advice about resealing the sump one I get it off, now you come along with this.

I had the gerbox changed 4 months ago, PLEASE tell me that this means the cross member is now more likely to come off easily?

I kinda feel it should.

I assume you changed the gearbox and didn't weld that cross member in place? 😄
No, I had neither the time nor the facilities, (nor the good secondhand autobox to replac it with) so I put it out to a local indy. He did it just before we left for Frogland.

Have to confess, I am being lazy, I could just crawl under and have a look, but got rather a lot on at the mo what with the wife flying back from the UK after surgery.

No, apart from changing the gear box ATF, which the indy told me to do aftet 500 miles, which doesn't involve the cross member, no I have nowt else to do while under there. Unless you have any suggestions for what might be a good idea?

I've been reading about the topic and watched couple of youtube videos, these were mentioned:

- Pressure release valve bolt check, put back with thread lock

- Oil pickup o-ring change

Don't know how important these would be though.

The pressure release vaalve bolt check is a good one, and yup, I was going to do that one as if not I'd have to go throught the whole rigmarole of removing the sump again. Not seen the oil pick-up O ring change, but that too makes sense. Just need to add that to my list of parts for job. Ta mate!
