Disco 2 Central Locking Issue on a 1999 Disco 2

Hello All:
I have had my 1999 Landrover Discovery 2 TDi 5 for over 15 years and love it. I've had loads of issues over the years (new engine, electrics, lots of water leaks, etc.) but kept it going and love it.
In recent weeks the Central Locking has stopped working. Using the key manually in the door is fine. Alarm works fine. Engine working perfectly. Took it to mechanic and electrics specialist and no joy so far. We have had loads of rain this past two months in Dublin so it might be an electrics getting wet issue.
I also noticed that the wind wipers have stopped working on the lowest (intermittent) setting which may be linked.
Does anyone have any ideas? Given it's 21 years old its borderline if its worth spending any more money on to keep it going (that's what my mechanic says).

Hi, so i presume that the fob works to disable the alarm just that the doors are not reacting? when you unlock with the key only the driver's door works? the central locking dash switch has no effect(i mean can't you hear any silent activity if you push it) ?

Yes, Fob works to disable alarm. Doors do not react. Not even Drivers door. Have to manually use key to open door. Central locking dash button does nothing. When I press it I hear nothing; no silent noises or attempts to work.

Check fuse F1 interior fusebox, if it's good the CL misbehaviour can be linked to the wiper's intermittent operation and then the BCU or IDM are becoming suspect which is bad news cos you need dedicated diagnostic tool for that, almost impossible to rule it out without that

Thanks. Yep - F1 Fuse is perfect. So you are suggesting the problem could be with the BCU or IDM. hmmm...

Yes, start with the fusebox cos it's plug and play but it must be from a non-facelift and after the swap and battery reconnection you must turn ignition to 2 and let it so 5 minutes
