Axles and transfer case oils changed today. Gearbox next week when I can use my mates four poster, or buy a crawler board, I'm a bit sore now

Rear diff drain plug, not too bad. This was the worst of the three.

Oil wasn't too bad either, transfer case was a bit darker and pen and inked a bit more but nothing serious evident.

Syringe set up, it's a silverline one cost about £15. Did the job, 10/10 Will use again :D

New brass filler plugs. Plastic ones came out very easily, was chuffed with that.

Job done, didn't get any pics of the transfer case, I was too oily by then o_O nice job to do except for the rolling about on the floor. I would raise it level on axle stands next time or use mateys ramp but I've only got 2 stands at the minute so I did my caterpillar impression.

Grease the prop slider and Uj's again tomorrow I think

One of joys of having a 2" lift and 265 tyres is there's plenty of room underneath :p

Hope the weather holds for it ...

Well I've been busy stripping the top of my V8 down. Talk about oil leaks, surprised there was any in it! I'm not surprised as all the breather pipes were full of gunk! took the rocker covers of to find this...........

Both sides were the same!

Now they look like this

Bloody core plugs were a PITA to get out too. Front cover off tomorrow (providing I can get the crank pulley bolt off, then its timing chain off, cam out, a bit more cleaning and start the rebuild.............when the parts get delivered!!!

Spent much more of the day than expected fitting a Troop 3 roof rack from Direct 4x4.

Seems very well made and very happy with the end result. I now have a solid base to attach lighting and a couple of aerials (CB and Amateur Radio) to the top of the truck.

About three years ago I changed the drivers door window regulator and had no problems since. This time last year I decided to get the same for the passenger door because of screeching noises. i didn't get around to fitting it till now. Late yesterday evening I took the door panel off ready and peeled back the vapour membrane. This morning I took the regulator out and separated the motor.
Everything has gone so smoothly - none of the plastic push fit clips broke, the membrane peeled off nicely and the regulator came out easily. Just got to fit the new one back now.

Chuffed to bits.
Replaced my power-steering pump + hoses and pipes, so with the recon s-box I had fitted last year, that's all the steering effectively good as new, all looking lovely...and NO leaks!! The added unexpected bonus was that on reversing out of the bay the sound that I had been thinking was the clutch release bearing getting tired (thus being my 'next job')...was gone!
Why would a PAS pump whistle in reverse and not all the time?
