hi there - its time to make a big decision & was hoping for some input
My disco needs the following for mot
welding ( probably 300 or 400 quids worth )
rear wheel bearings
steering arm
steering damper
headlamps
probably a full bush kit
& this is just what i know about !!!
Its done 189k and when i recently did the big end shells i discovered the crank lobes are oval !
Is this really worth spending another load of money on ??
I have a 2000 focus and was thinking would i be better off selling the disco & the focus then trying to find a better disco with the cash i raise from the two or am i better with the devil i know than one i dont
Really dont know what to do here guys so any input appreciated !!
Thanks in advance
stu

If funds/space allow sell the Focus, buy a decent 300TDi, then break the 200TDi to gain extra money for the newer Disco.

cheers johnny - how would u suggest i list it - i guess the cheapest way would be to ad as a breaker call for parts & prices ???
ebay charges are getting stupid !

Look at the how to break a disco thread. If you have a garage. And time to do it you can strip to bare bones and get good money for it. Plus weighing in what's left.

Wheels
Dash
Gearbox
Props
Axles and diffs
Seats
Sell dickies separate
Toward
Lights
Glass
Sunroofs
Suspension if good
Switches
Roof lining if good
Steering wheel
Transfer box

It all mounts up.
Bought mine for £600 to be a donor and even with using engine made that back

cheers chunkey monk but i only have a drive way and not much time - the original plan was to sell the focus to repair the disco but in reality its not worth doing - could i not sell the parts on a remove yourself kinda basis ???

Not really, you need time and space. If there someone local off here with a yard or something they might allow you a space for beer and possible parts.

Put it out for offers. Have a figure you will accept. Bear in mind it would be a project for someone so you won't get top dollar. The one I bought had lower mileage but was rot to hell and I was told I paid too much

i reckon 500 quid is about all its worth but i just cant bring meself to take that for it right now - spent loads on it

Similar boat as me (but my Disco ain't rotten), spent nigh on £3k on the Disco, just needs a bit of welding to see her right .. but the Mrs:mad: is p'd off at spending on an old car! Even with a year's tax on her I'd be lucky to get £750, so if my hand is forced I've told her I'm breaking her up.
