I brought a range rover p38 Becm from ebay a week ago it was advertised as a 1997 becm from a v8 4.6. even had a photo. Link here...
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
The photo was a WYW type Becm that would have been fitted to a 1997 RR. so i was the only bidder, took a while to get to me and when it arrived it was a old AMR type nothing like the photo, I sent a message telling him it was not as described and asked for a total refund, he then replyed saying "it is as described and ill knock £10 off the price," later that week i connected the Becm up to my fault mate to check and the logic board, it was showing it as a 1995 range rover and it was a type 1 board (old board), i then contacted him again telling him it was not only not as the photo shows but the whole Becm was indeed from a 1995 range rover
His reply was the same again that it was from his RR 1997, but now was stating that the last owner had changed the Becm so was not his fault it was not the same, i said the one he sent me was and never had been cloned as there were no solder marks or even the the wax cover had been removed. His next reply i have copied and pasted on here....
"Stop talking **** I am an auto election you do not need to open it up to replace it you just change the whole unit I agrees to refund you 10 that's all and I will do this when I have the funds at end of week un till then I can't do anything it was taken out of my rr make and model as specified and I can provide log book to prove it too"
After that i told him to forget it and ill re advertise it on ebay as a 1995 Becm.
So to all you wanting to replace your Becm, you just take the old one out and replace with any you can get your hands on.
