weird scenes inside a goldmine.....

or , more precisely, Weird noises underneath a Disco.......

Every now and again, for just the first 20 foot or so, there is a nasty graunching, sort of bearing breaking up, CV joint falling apart, sort of noise coming from, it appears the gearbox/T box area. After 20 foot or so, the noise disappears, and the disco runs fine, until next time.


Any ideas?

I reckon yer handbrake mechanism is sticky.

wud that sound like a bearing then, Trew? I must admit - I only adjusted it just before the MOT - maybe I need to slacken it off a bit?

mine does it sometimes - the shoes only partially release till you've moved a bit, then they finally release. makes a graunching noise.
on mine it also seems to make the suspension bounce a bit.

give it a clout with fine adjusting tool no.1

it does seem to judder a bit - maybe 3 clicks is a tad too tight.

MOT testers like to see 3 clicks, but I find that too tight - 4 is better I think.

Better slack than hot and seized (and transfer box oil all over road). But it sounds as if something needs freeing up in there - maybe even a broken spring? I'd take it apart n have a look.
