water return pipe

i had a water pipe go on me in germany today its one of thoes plastic pipes that go from the expantion tank to a metal box tipe thing whitch is atached to where you blank off the egr. i looked at the cd and mine is a EU3 model what ever that is? Now my question is do i need the same type of plastic pipe or can i use a thicker rubber one insted or can i just blank them off .

Are you on about the fuel cooler?

no its not a fuel cooler it is a egr cooler.thats what the diagram says it is.

As long as the pipe fits securely to the connections there shouldn't be an issue with using a thicker rubber type pipe.

If it is the egr cooler it is a heat exchanger rather than cooler. It was not fitted to the earlier models anyway. (I think it was about 2002 it came into play). So it should be fine to bypass it.

thanks ratty i got a long bit of rubber hose and fitted it today mine is a 02 model.what's the point in using that poxy plastic stuff, what a load of crap .
