Wanted - SYNERGY 2 Fitting Guide

Hey all,
I know there a loads of posts about the Synergy 2, i've read most of them, which, is why i managed to buy a second hand box from E-bay for £80.

However, it doesn't have any instructions for fitting, can anyone help?

yes they are indeed very easy to fit , i fitted one on my td4 and transformed the engine

u can also have a dashboard switch, which enables u to change the settings whilst still driving

Would i need to change anything else ie fuel pump? Not sure what maf sensor is on but i would say Bosch. Ive seen one on ebay for £50 at moment but dont wanna bugger the car up

no u don't need to change the maf sensor

what engine is in urs plse and what synergy is for sale

if u buy one second hand i would be tempted to speak to ron at synergy to test it for u, to ensure its working as it should and if it needs it can update it for u, checking also all the connectors

that way at least u will know it's working properly and peace of mind it's been tested

plus u need to ensure it's the correct synergy for ur engine, check with ron if ur unsure

Ok thanks for your help. Mine is a 2003 2.0Td4. The one i seen was a synergy 2a. There are brand new ones with switch and maf for £250. I was considering remap but thought this would be a cheaper and better option. It mainly for towing

i think ron would only charge around £20-30 to update it for u , as with the switch inside u can switch from eco to power whilst driving , ideal if ur towing

the synergy has a switch that is a maf compensator , so if ur maf is slightly weak it will boost the signal

think that was the right one, a 2A , but give ron and ring and he will soon guide u , all about peace of mind and therefore once u fit the box it will all be updated , the older ones without the update u can't use the switch whilst on the move , u have to stop and adjust it, updated , lift foot of accelerator and move switch then back onto pedal

either use the right Bosch maf .. or ..
get the pierburg maf with the synergy ( from 'tuning diesels' )

with the pierburg maf .. the maf mapping inside the synergy
gives a slightly stronger signal than the mapping for the bosch map
also the highest setting '10' has a stronger maf mapping than
settings '6' thru '9'

ron at 'tuning diesels' will also customize a 'synergy' if requested
( e.g. .. i requested that the highest pierburg maf mapping
( be connected to all synergy settings meant for the pierburg maf

with the pierburg maf .. and with the egr valve replaced with a 'delete' unit
it's then feasible to use any of the synergy settings .. 1 thru 10

A remap will give better results than what can be achieved by the Synergy. The main advantage of the Synergy, is it makes the standard ECU compatible with a cheaper Peirburg MAF. A decent remap can do that anyway. It can also be transferred to another vehicle, which a remap can't.

Be cautious using increased torque while towing. I upset my auto box by using too much torque while towing.
The extra torque available with a Synergy or remap will soon eat up the safety margin that LR built into the drive train.

i had the bosch maf and set my synergy on number 2 , any higher and it also made the gear changes on my auto abit jumpy

liked the idea of the dashboard switch , so u could have that little bit of extra power when req

Thanks for info would you recommend leaving as standard and just replace all hoses? I have already fitted a egr bypass and crank breather

Im thinking hoses because i get a ssound like from a solenoid or something to do with air when under load

A box with new Maf and switch is £245 i have been quoted £295 for s remap what would you recommend?

I'd probably go the remap route myself. Providing it is proper remap that can map out MAF compensation completely. This would then allow power and economy when needed. The MAF is only used for EGR feedback and smoke reduction. So do an EGR delete and remap to remove the MAF requirements will improve the engine well above the ability of the Synergy. You'll need to make sure all your boost hoses are in top condition and fit the EGR delete before getting the remap done.

I use mine on the lowest settings for fuel economy. I am in no rush to get anywhere these days
