how to check prea load jack up front axle disconect tie bar from hub so you can move hub by hand then you need a set of fishing scales connect them to track eye and pull if right it should read around 15llb if less take out shims thay are all different thickness take one out and try with scales again if you take out too many your stearing will be stiff
if there is no shims you will need to change top and bottom swivel bearings and add shims to get the desired efect:):):)

Depending on which era of LR workshop manual you select/use, the swivel preload is between 3 and 6lbs WITHOUT the larger scraper seal fitted.

Obviously with the scraper there is more friction so more preload.

cheers now saying when i did my traking ages ago a mate said that moving the hub/wheel was quite stiff so think it that !!

Cheers guys great as usual !
