Hi everyone my name is Andy and Im in cambridgeshire, I have a Range Rover Vogue 50 Carin, the issue I need your help with is the head unit, its a Kenwood and Im having problems getting a tuner signal. The RR has an antenna on the roof at the back which has a coax cable and a red wire, which I have removed and replace the antenna with a new one and I have wired the cable direct to the head unit and still have a bad signal? When i replaced the antenna, under the skin of the roof was a small stiffing plate which I think had a mastic seal in between the skin of the body work and this stiffing plate, could anybody confirm that this is the case, because if so this would cause the lack of signal I think?
If any of you could help it would be fantastic
Thanks in advance

Andy

I don't know your particular set-up but I had a similar problem with a Merc and it turned out that the extra cable was feeding a tiny signal amp in the base of the 'correct' aerial and someone had changed this for a passive aerial.

Thanks for your reply dogsbody, the original antenna also wasnt getting a good signal either, Radio 2 shows my age or sadness

Don't worry mate mine's tuned to Radio 4.

What I was getting at, and what I had with the Merc, was that the signal amp in the aerial failed and the owner fitted a cheap aftermarket one. He then got the same low signal problem and started blaming the head unit. A Merc replacement aerial sorted it out.

Hi No. 5 I have No. 11 and am not to far from you just on Essex / Suffolk border
I think I have one of the lowest mileage Vouge 50s around with only 51000 on the clock

Hi Number 11 your not far at all and to have 51000 on the clock is amazing, how long have you had it?, we should have a club for the vogue 50's my one has had a new cosworth v8 engine 29000 ago has now done 108000,

Hi No.5 lol
I have had my Vouge 50 for around 18 months, I got it from a guy that had it for about 8 years and only did about 2000 miles a year in it.
No.11 was sold as new in 1998 from Range rover in Mayfair London and was sold to the jordanian royal family and was driving around on diplomatic plates untill about 2002 where it was then traded in for another model at the same dealers, I know this as I don't work to far from dealers and have been in there and talked to the same guy that sold it when new.

It would be good to start a club but as there are only 9 left and No.1 still belongs to HRH I don't think there would be that many members lol

We should catch up sometime as I have yet to see another Vouge 50

Hi No 11 we should start a club, do you think Phil would join the club, that would be so funny, my vogue 50 has been in my owner ship for only a short while, it had been used in the music industry to transport so called stars, it is no longer standard as the wheels have been changed to 20 BBS split rim alloys, the sony tvs have been removed from the rear headrests and replaced with wide screen versions, the tv system has been changed to freeveiw, headunit been changed and it has had a playstation installed, other than that its standard, it would be great to have a meet up as to see what other changes have been made to no5, is that right that there are only 9 left where have all the others gone
speak soon
No5

I think the only thing that has changed on my car is that it is now running on 20" wheels but still RR wheels
Still has the Sony tv's and video player, I also have the full set of deep blue sheep skin carpets that come with the vogue 50, also have 1 of the 3 suit cases ( there was 3 when new )
I have changed the head unit but ran new wires to new speakers so not to damage the old system, that way I can put back the old head unit if I sell it.
The car also has a very well hidden LPG system that was installed on the car as an after market kit befor it was collesced by its first owner.
The guy that owned it befor me also passed on to me the full range rover workshop manual that states on front cover not to leave workshop lol
I also have another that is the full wiring manual, each of these 2 books are about 5" high, also have a stack of other range rover books that the previous seller passed on.

I had been looking for a vogue 50 for more than a year and only found this one 2 weeks befor Xmas 2010, I was told that last month one of the dragons den guys sold a vogue 50 with 180000 miles on it for £12000, not sure how true that is lol

If you want to pm me your No. I'm sure we could meet up for a chat

MMMmmm very very cheap but I can see why, would be better sold as spares shame and number 82 they only made 50? or so Im led to believe
