L322 3.0 Td6 2003
I am looking at an L322 3.0 Td6 with a mileage of 56k. It has had only one owner and a full service history. With this mileage I am concerned that the gearbox will fail at the golden 80k mark. Am I being stupid? Also what else could be a potential problem area (I am talking big things I can work out the basics) 7.5K is that reasonable? Any advice or thoughts gratefully received.
Many thanks.

That's a lot of money for an old L322, but you might be able to keep the box running for another 50k if you get in and do a good fluid change on it.

I paid 7000 last May for a 2003 L322 3.0TD6 with 100,000 miles up so I dont think the price is unreasonable

Looks like a bargain then, quick check on the bay shows anything from 3k to 9k regardless of miles
I knew this when I bought mine........I work at a car sales and nice cars fetch a premium in

we find nice cars in outstanding condition fetch a premium , for example I could have bought a 2005 model for 4 grand instead but chose not to

If it were me I would be avoiding that like the plague and finding an MY06 petrol or MY07 Tdv8 for not much more money. Miles better machine with a 6 speed gearbox.

Much though I love mine, had I known seven years ago what I know now, that's what I would have done.

It's what I have just done... collect my S/C L322 on Tuesday!
Enjoy :D Remember pics or it didn't happen. What did you do in the end with the P38 and 650i? Did you sell privately or trade both together against it? I thought about trading mine last year but I've done so much work on her that 1, as she is almost new under the skin, it wouldn't be worth buying a newer second-hand vehicle, just to face someone else's issues along the line and 2 I am still in love with her. So problem child or not she's staying :D

Well here is a picture of her...

650i went last weekend to a new owner, my P38 is still here at the moment although I took a deposit on her last night so I'm hoping she goes on Saturday. Collect the S/C on Tuesday, but I've also just put a deposit on a 330ci as a track car, not got a plan on when I'm picking that one up yet but perhaps Sunday if I can find the time!

All sounds good. Wishing you many miles of happy driving :D

With the current shift of DIESEL IS EVIL! I'd probably take the running cost hit and get a petrol one instead. As I can't imagine it'll be that long before there are some sizeable fuel duty hikes on derv.

Nice veehickle but lose the spectacles !

They are growing on me to be honest! Especially with Tonga Green, makes it look even more classy... I looked at so many that were Black/Silver/Grey and although they were nice it just had a whiff of the street pharmacist about it. And with my line of work I don't want to be encouraging that! I believe its a fairly bad job to get them of as well.
