V8 tuning potential?

I have a 3.5 rover v8 engine gathering dust and im considering using it in a car,but i want at least 240bhp..is this possible without a supercharger? I would be intrested to hear from anyone running a tuned v8 and gettin some ballpark bhp figures and parts suppliers used to build.

that should be easy. My dad did tell me how to up BHP in one once but i can't remember much of it. Thinner HG to up compression, change the hydraulic tappets (i think) to up the max revs, then hose moe fuel in, get the tiiming bang on etc.

Google it there must be loadsa stuff that engine was used in everything.

400 is possible.

a stroker kit, revamped head and cam would see you over 240hp.

200hp on the standard engine is fairly simple to get if its carb fed

3.5 Fast Road Rebuild Kit - V8 Tuner flowed heads would give you more. 215hp shoudl be easy

Ok thanks guys,Looks like i will go the v8 route,I was looking at spending a grand on the other option and that would not sound half as nice...and would have required a fair bit of elastictrikery with both looms....

Ive been told to use 3.9 heads too but not sure if it was for more power or to run it on unleaded?

He built a stupidly powerful (Torquey) and BHP 3.5Litre, PTS tested it for months getting it tuned right. It took forever but it was spot on. The best V8 I've been in ask for figures he reckoned the 2 carbs limited its BHP but quad SU's would have helped His advice was (the driver always wants a better Camshaft than the engine) get one to match the engine and not the otherway around Jai.

I have a 3.5 v8 for a cortina it has been custom built by a guy on the old skool ford web site it has produced 423bhp it cost £1100 should get me down the pod quickly well with the nos aswell

I have a mk1 escort for that they think they are good with theyer loud exhaust back boxes and body kits and I leave them for dead at lights soo funny, I beat a m5 the other day well of the line he did slauter me on the straight

my landy has calmed me down, try to stick to speed limit got 9 points,
3 for speeding past old bill unmarked car:doh: I was doing 65 in a 20 zone

the problem was when I over took I read met police on the sticker on the drivers door and put my foot down even more mate was ****ting him sulf, I was going to run but the car did have tax and mot so I was ok apart from 3 points

65 in a 20? ****in hell... mate of mine had to fight for his licence when clocked at 64 in a 30.
