Kev is correct, I had tremendous problems with the vehicle cutting out when stopping for traffic lights because my speed sensor was faulty.

Had a dry joint on the board.

You will need it to successfully run 14cux in pretty sure there's no other way. Fits in the speedo cable from the transfer case BUT a 3.9 disco has a speed sensor SO how does a 3.9 DISCO (different to v belt 3.9 rangey) get a speed pulse to the ECU? Does it use the sensor in the transfer case directly?

The 3.9 speed sensor is bolted with a single allen bolt to the transfer box, it's also used to send info to the speedo.

Right cool, so I assume the 14cux loom is the same on 3.5 and 3.9 disco and the speed sense wire, from whatever type of sensor, I provided at the single white 9 pole multiplug where the 14cux meets the main loom.

The ECU only needs a pulse to switch idle control, any pulse = no idle control so it's not speed dependant once the vehicle is moving.

any ideas on that loom yet OP?

Looks a little different to the 3.5 loom I had out recently, this has probably got the diagnostic connector fitted also and the relay position is different, need an overview of the whole lot really so we can see if the Hotwire loom is standalone...

AAAhhhhh its a spider, bypass it!!

could also change your tune resistor and not run cats/lambda sensors to make it easier.

When my speed sensor gets submerged it stops working and has yet to affect the way it runs. It gives signal to both the speedo and ecu. I dont think it's much hassle to fit the later drive unit to the transfer box to be able to fit the speed transducer though.

The hotwire loom is standalone. the little white plug is the testbook connector, will also have the resistor for speed signal in the bunch of wire by the coil not by the maf connection

it is or at least can be you only need 3 wires to run it 1 been pump feed

The mysterious other 2 wires we we will never know!!

You have to have the neg from the coil or it won't inject so thats 2 wire...maf the other?

ignition feed and battery feed,coil wire is part of loom

battery to heavy brown and ignition to r/w on blue plug if my memory serves. w/p is fuel pump feed.

This is a very neatly produced loom. I am still inclined to use the full loom fed back in to cab and to only use existing loom for a few things on drivers side of engine like oil pressure sender etc.

reading this thread with interest as i'm gearing up to transplant a 95 Disco 3.9 efi into a late Stage 1 series 111 but think i will put the transfer and auto box in as well

To put a v8 EFi in anything you need the Hotwire loom.

You use the existing wiring for whatever is fitted to that vehicle, starter feed and temp senders etc.

Hotwire is a nice little loom on its own.

Idris, I would not entertain taking anything other that what you need over to your 90, and all you need is the Hotwire loom.

You could drop a v8 in a diesel with a Hotwire loom, plug and play!
