V8 cutting out and wont start

On friday on my way to uni as i pulled up to a junction the engine cut out, started up again fine then did it again as i entered the car park at uni. This time when i started it up again it would run aslong as you hold the accelerator pedal down a bit, then would cut out when you let it off. Then it wouldnt start. Towed it back to my house and the local mechanic said its likely to be the dizzy or the coil. Replaced the coil saturday morning and all the connections around it and re-done the earths. Drove round town for ages fine then when i got it onto the main road i put my foot down and it spluttered and cut out, recovery truck back to my house where i have no idea what to do next. It looks like the dizzy and the alternator are quite new and we cant see any problems with the dizzy? Sorry for the long explanaition but thought it might help! Oh and its a 1993 3.5i V8 auto

Any help or things i could check (and how) would be greatly appreciated

Hi.

You need to make sure it's getting fuel (Check that the fuel relay is good) and that it's getting a spark.

Do a search.

Try a new rotor arm. If no luck get somebody to help you and check for sparks at a plug first then from king lead. If good, disconnect MAF and see how you get on.

Also check and clean the engine crankcase breather and pipe

Just an update, got a new control module ( the bit that sits on the side of the dizzy) which sorted out the stalling but it was still running a bit rough, re checked all the ignition wires and one snapped off in my hand, replaced it and she runs sweets as! Am well happy with the disco now

after reading your first post i was gonna suggest leads breaking down, but then yer last post confirmed it so well done and hope theres no more probs!
