All,
i have a range rover p38 that has now got engine immobilized message on screen, it was working fine all week until the frost hit last night, the doors are not all opening only the drivers, so going through the pages here it says that the door locking mechanism is failing , also it does not open on the fob, only by the key. so it looks like this is the culprit, have spoken to two so call RR specialists who both said write it off and not interested in P38;s !! so two questions, 1. am i right in assuming this is the cause ? 2. does anyone know of a mobile land rover specialist that are in the Coventry area, who can fix the latch or, turn off the immobilizer etc, to say that i am gutted is a understatement, i loved the car, but all i get is negative reports from mechanics. so thinking the writing off will be the only option at this rate.

any help would be great

thanks

What year is it? Petrol or diesel? Most likely a low or flat battery problem, just needs a re-sync of the key FOB, Mozz Smith is your man for that.
The P38 is only viable if you can DIY, remember it's not a car, it's a hobby.

First job is get the bonnet open and check the battery voltage, if it's below 12.5 volts charge it, then PM Mozz, he'll most likely sort your problem over the phone.

Slightly locally mobile, but as you are in Coventry and he is in Manchester not that mobile. There is nothing better at showing up duff batteries than cold weather. Charge your battery fully. Download the workshop manual (link in my "How to") do the key sync as outlined in hand book.

Dont despair just yet. 99% of the early problems I had with mine were due to cold weather and low battery volts. As has been suggested get your bonnet up and stick the battery on charge. Use a smart charger if you have one so you dont have to disconnect the battery.
I'm not sure how to re sync your key for your model but hold on, somebody on here will.

Thanks mozzy , well there is a update , have got home from work put key in doors all opened put key in ignition and started, so from this can I presume it is the door latch that is at fault ? , I thinking of not locking it until I get to the bottom of the fault so do not get this problem again ? Thanks again for advice so far
