colways have gone bust now so any "new" colways are likly to have been sitting on the shelf for the best part of a year

if your doing the best part of 300 miles a week on tarmac you'll soon kill any tyre that is designed for mixed terain - think you'd be better off getting some road tyres fitted to your alloys and getting another set fitted to some cheap rims to use when you know you'll be getting it dirty
 
I have 235/85 16 wildcat MST on mine no lift as yet. had to do some cutting of rear arch to stop the rubing when off roading.Gives the disco abit more ground clearance

235s are the biggest(widest)you can put on a disco1 without a lift or wheel spacers(they catch on the rear arches if you go bigger)and the dakars are prob the best as they are a copy of BF goodrich and a mate who has them on his disco1 swears by them...
But if you want to go bigger then your looking at a lift and all the associated problems.....in this case size really does matter!
 
When are you planning a lift Becky?

I have heard that this puts strain on the rest of the suspension and on a 14 year old vehicle I dont want to take the risk so I am just gonna put bigger tyres on for a little lift.

Wrong! I've had 265/75 BFG muds on my last three discos. The front bumper end caps need to be trimmed or removed and the rear arches need a trim. You don't need a suspension lift the taller tyres give extra ground clearance that is actually useful rather than lifting the chassis and bodywork a couple of inches but leaving the diff casings at the same height.

im wrong? for saying235s are the biggest without mods,then you go on to say all the mods you need to do to fit anything bigger.......doh! i give in
