Tyre size?

Am planning a long trip to south east of France with the family and the dog in July this year! All 4 tyres will need replacing before we go. What would people recommend; 255/65/16 which is what is on there now, or go smaller for less road noise to;235/70/16?

255/65R16 is a decent size and what we have.

Road noise won't be reduced significantly by going down a size, it puts more weight per sq in on the tread and will wear faster.

Stick with the standard tyre size but keep the pressures up, 28F 38R is standard, but fully loaded you would want to increase those.

i had them both and ended up with the 255/65/16 too as feels the best
