Oh hello,

I'm looking for a premium summer tyre in SW Europe for my 4X4 '99 LR Freelander. My top priorities are #1 safety: dry handling #2 dry braking #3 value #4 strong enough sidewalls to do some light gravel/offroad driving and not suffer damage #5 fuel economy #6 road noise. My tyres are 215/65R16, and I suppose I want XL if I want stronger sidewalls. I don't want to pay much more than 120EUR a corner, ideally less. I'm open to other suggestions, but here's the shortlist that I have narrowed down my search to, and would love any input from anyone please :) especially if you have any thoughts on resiliency against sidewall damage/punctures from occasional gravel driving.

Hankook -- has three options, the Radial, the Vantra LT, or the Ventus Prime 4 (has XL rating) in my tyre size for 115EUR

Kumho Ecsta HS52, but not in the same exact size. Just 215/55R16 XL (90EUR) or 215/60ZR16 (not XL, 115EUR). (Not sure if those are compatible, and also not sure if lower numbers are better or worse, I'm guessing worse)

Vredestein has the Ultrac for 98EUR, but not XL. I had their Sportracs on my old MX-5 years ago and liked them (though they made it less fun and slidey:( )

Yokohama has Bluearth GT AE51 or ES32 for 119 and 113EUR, respectively.

Which do you think I should go for? Thanks for your help!

Goodyear Wrangler HP were a factory tyre and pretty good at everything.
Yokohama Geolander AT 015 are another good tyre.

Not on your list but have you considered Pirelli Cinturato All season SF2? almost as good as the no longer available ATR's which were a cracking tyre.
