Hi all, hoping someone might be able to help wth my atest problem. Last week we travelled 400 miles through France, another 400 miles touring, then half way back the turbo gave up, no accelleration and every hill on the way back was climbed at 30mph. the turbo whistled when accellerating, but no power. Got to the Eurotunnel, had a quick look and couldnt see anything standing out. By the time we drove off the Eurotunnel, the turbo was working again and we drove just over 100 miles home without a problem. Any ideas what could have happened, and what to look for first? Steve

Split or loose hose, if you can hear the turbo whistling chances are it's working.

Any smoke out the back?

Check all your induction hoses and couplings, then double check them.

there was like a rusty colour smoke, but only wen i tried to put my foot down on 'full' accelleration to try and get up the speeper hills.

I'll check the hoses and look for damage, what i cant get is that once we had stopped for nearly an hour, it worked perfectly after that all the way home.

Check the actuator, maybe it's getting stuck open when hot. May need removing and a proper clean with some WD40 or similar.

Thanks, that might be it. It was absolutely baking across France, and the car had obviously cooled down before I started it again.
Hope it's easy to get to as i currently have a slipped disc and dont relish the thought of bending double or twisting too much.

Should be pretty close to the turbo unit. I don't know the vehicle well enough unfortunately, good luck with it and let us know how you get on.

Answered in the other thread you posted in.....

Bypass Plate stuck open - I'll attach the drawings a second time.....if the plate is stuck open you will lose boost pressure....
