Hi have owned my 55 td4 for 6 months now , i am very impressed with it. However after hearing a few horror stories about blown turbos i am a worried man! my td4 is on 51 ,000 my mates 02 td4 turbo blew on 65,000 and cost 1,400 to fix. Any advice on prolonging the life of the Turbo or if not what is the recomended millage for a new Turbo to be fitted?

And make sure the crankcase breather valve is changed at every service, as per the revised Land Rover specification for the M47 Td4. A dealer or good LR independent will change them, but a general garage probably won't. If the engine starts throwing its oil out of the engine (via the dipstick) then the lack of oil will damage the turbo.

Off the top of my head it is LLJ500010 or something like that.
