Were trying to fit new rock slide sills to our 1990 Landy.

The previous owner had removed the original sill. However, the sill lugs were left in place. we have tried everything to remove these, but nothing works. are they tapered, threaded or is it just 18 years of crap.

Can anyone help.

Looks to me as if that might have been welded in! They're just hollow tube section as far as I'm aware (certainly is on my '86 model) Try an angle grinder ;)

as far as i can remember they are just tubes . can you get a grip of them with a set of stilsons and twist them ??

just be careful you dont rip the outrigger orf ..

Yeah, there's definitely nothing there worth worrying about. Just take it back to that kind of washer thats in-between them (actually grind the washer off) and you should be left with the holes you're after. It's more than likely just been done to stop water getting in and rusting the chassis from the inside out, that's all really! If there is a solid bar all the way through just drill it out! Simple-a-dimply-doo

If you can weld weld a big nut to it and spin it out.. prolly work loose if u can twist it.. nice tyres by the way

If I remember correctly, the sills were only held with small 6mm setscrews, those could be the leftovers from previously fitted rocksliders. have a look at the back side of the chassis to see if there's a bolt and large washer "in the hole" this is how you bolt up the rock sliders that you'll fit.

Don't "Just angle grind them off." You'll still have the rest of the tube stuck in the outrigger. And then you'll have a bastid of a job getting it out, if you want to fit rocksliders, As said it's probably had a side step or slider on and the previous owner has ripped it off. Look for the bolt passing thru the chassis and exiting on the inside edge of the chassis rail. If it isn't there clean the outrigger and look for bolts/screws that have had the head snapped off. It's unlikely to be just rust thats holding it in. And it is almost definitately not "just a plug to keep water out" ??
