Hi Guys n Gals (apparently there are some on here) :)

Been having a few problems starting my 200tdi, and like i;'ve allways done just ignore it till it fails i've turned over a new leaf and intend to fix it before it gets worse!

Problem

We did a long drive about a month ago and when we got home the landy would have difficulty in starting, i gave the gal an early service (4000 miles since her last one Filters ect) as i thought it was the fuel filer because also just after she was off starting you would put your foot down and she went nowhere until say 2 to 5 seconds later after that there were no problems no mater how far we went. onces shes going there is no problems it only starts after shes started from being left for approx 20 or so mins.

Solution

Now this is me guessing but could this be the fuel pump i've read a few posts about it after its off its draining fuel back into the tank? im not 100% hence the post and which pump is it the lift pump or the manual pump in the engin bay?? thats if it is it.

As usual any help is always gratefully appreciated! one day i'll be able to hand out advice on here lol this is one big learning curve lol

I would look for air ingress somewhere on the fuel lines-injector leak off pipes would be my first check, any diesel showing near them?

Might be fuel sender/pick up unit top of diesel tank and found at rear floor access plate , often corrode and crack and then suck air or leak. Also dont forget sediment filter unit might be worth checking or bypassing

Check all fuel pipes, all unions and olives. Also if it has one the fuel sedimentor. Make sure you haven't ripped the rubber seal on the fuel filter. Leak off pipes between the injectors and also the high pressure injector pipes.

Report back...

Sorry for the long response back.. Been really busy and just put this to the side..

Anyway.. Others than the clear pipe.. I've checked all the pipes and all way to the fuel tank and there are no cracks that I can see. Tho as the pics show I am clearly in dire need of a new boot floor it's shot! Didn't realise I was that bad... The sedimenter has new seals on and it's still happening so all I can assume is its the lift pump in the tank.
