Transmission hard shift diagnosis

I was helping out a guy recently on another forum who also had a really bad 3-4 shift problem in his 2006MY SC : fullfatrr.com - View topic - Calling RRPhil

The first obvious thing to try was to replace the delay accumulator piston for the MV1 solenoid (which controls Shift Valve 1 and hence the engagement of the E-clutch via Shift Valve 2)

but unfortunately this made no difference. I then suggested that he swapped the solenoids around to see if the problem moved to a different shift - and it did. He therefore replaced the full set of solenoids for 300 Euros and his transmission is now perfect again.

I have a feeling that solenoid issues with the 6HP26 are going to become more and more commonplace as these transmissions rack up the miles.

That is good to know, I feel that the price for good quality solenoids and labor for changing them makes it not worth it for a customer to pay, since is almost as much as a new valve body, and I don't trust the computer being inside the transmission and being subjected to its fluid and temperature. Love the pic!
