First question to the new rear diff eggspurt.....

I have an IRD and diff sitting in my garage, but the car is 500 miles away with a 3 hour sea crossing in the middle. So my question is, can an IRD, diff and socket set be classified as 'carry on baggage' with Air New Zealand?

Fecking madness as I've already got the daily drive and one in bits in the garage..... but I really fancy it :(

You know what, I thought I would be clever and find you another one nearer. But I've searched in every NZ car trader site I can find, and cannot find a single Freelander 1 for sale anywhere in New Zealand, let alone Canterbury. Are they that rare then? So now I'm thinking you might be serious if they are scarce? Have you got breakdown recovery? You could "break down" ;) on the way home maybe? You wouldn't need the diff by the sounds of it though.

Do you know, I don't think that I have ever seen a targa with the back off.

Of those 20 F1s - 17 are V6! 1 x 1.8 and 2 x TD4.

Shipping cars around the country is common here (its how @htr got his one home when he bought it). It would probably cost me about £450 to get it shipped here - which after a flight up there accommodation, fuel and ferry costs back is quite attractive - even before removing the worry of not being able to easily get it road worthy for the 500 mile trip home!

The reason you don't see them with the back off - is because they look pants :)
