transit engine

the new defender has a transit engine i believe does this mean i could but the engine from a 56 transit into my td5 and change the bonnet
anyone know

I doubt it's that easy. the engine is fairly new to the Tranny as well, so I don't know if it will be in the 56. I believe LR had to do a lot of development work on it to get the result they want.
It also goes onto a different gearbox.
All in all, anything is possible, but I doubt it will be easy.
Why would you want to do it?

happen to know someone that rolled his transit 4 times last week as a result engines about all thats salvagable thought might grab it for a project im toying with

td5 is a good engine though i would prefer a td5 to the new tranny engined deepender anyday

they had to re map the layout of the engine to keep the "iconic" shape of the defender.

pity had only done 18000 miles and was cheap as

I put a link the other day to a 5L merc engine in a wrecked ML class.
If you were good with a spanner that would make a good project.

the transit engine thats in a landrover has been modified to work at more extream angles lubrication wise

Stick wi your td5 coz the transit engine is ****!
We got dead transits lyin all over the place at work, jumped timing jains resultin in broken cam carriers, bust piston rings resulting in ****ing out of oil from all seals resulting in fooked bottom ends requiring new short motor, fooked egr valves with no delivery date (25000 on back order!! You think they have an issue wi those?).
gimme a td5 any day, or fiddle wi the pump and turbo on 200/ 300tdi

think im going to get a 200tdi or 300tdi for my project as they,ll be easier to tinker with
have a td5 at the minute but its gos with the job and they maintain it

anyone know any post 92 110 h/tops for sale must have min 3 months mot due to not fitting in garage so need to tax it
preferably in scotland

not bothered about interior paint as will re do
just want one that runs
