Trailer flasher relay

hi all,

fitting a towbar to the old girl and wanted to check on the replacement flasher unit needed.

the usual Hella one is 25 quid but I found this for a tenner, will it do the same job?

yes i would go for it at that price mainwaring,as long as it works the little green trailer symbol on your dash,sounds like a bargain.paid £24 for one couple of years ago.tim.

Just got one of these and put it on today. Is the trailer light on the dash suppose to light even without a trailer attached?. And if so is it alway a flickering flash and then perhaps a steady flash when something is attached?. But apart from that it works. Marty

Mine just flashes with the indicators, but then again my car seems to do a lot differently to other peoples

Sadly I have a f*@king rounded off bolt to get out before I can fit the tow bar and try it out. Argh

Is that one of the bolts that fixes the tow hook?. If so nice and small ,no strength and an small space to work, lovely. Good luck in getting it out.

The towing flasher isn't heavy duty they both contain the same switch. The only difference is the towing flasher has the sensor terminal which flashes the trailer symbol on the dash. It's completely acceptable to use the standard flasher and remote buzzer

I like keeping things as oem looking as possible. Well, sort of anyway. :lol:

It arrived today and I fitted it.

The trailer light flashed all the time with no electrics plugged in when the hazards are on.
The trailer light flashed when the electrics are plugged in and indicators are on right or left and also when the hazards are on.
With no electrics plugged in the trailer light does not appear to light up once when you indicate at all. Odd. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

if i sit there swapping indication from one side to tuther i briefly see my green trailer symbol illuminate without a trailer board being attached.

when a trailer board is attached it lights everytime i indicate.

I have not seen the trailer light flash on at all unless I switch on my hazard lights or attach my lighting board.

I have converted the 7pin to 13 pin. Would that alter anything?

just sorted my tow bar and fitted the relay and I find it annoying with the trailer flashing away. is it really supposed to do that? think I might just fit the old one back and change them over when I am towing if that is the case
