Track rod ends - How much should they move?

Someone turning the steering wheel side to side while videoing the track rod ends... now that would be something to see :D

As for your links TrueStereo nothing wrong with the movement shown, its when they seize with age And they don't there's problems. Just clamp on some grips and try it for your self and if both ends have brand new ball joints you may even be able to turn the rod by hand.

they are ball joints they should move as such, what they shouldnt have is any play ,which if you just hold the rod whilst someone rocks the steering wheel you will feel if there is or not
 
Thanks a lot for the replies. It was the chappie at the tracking place that pointed the movement out to me after he struggled to get it tracked properly. I'll check side to side play when I have a suitable helper.
