Vosa have stopped the dual purpose i saw a report a while ago

Yep although they can still be put through the computers I believe, not 100% on that as the MOT systems are a bit odd at best.

TBH, the log book is pretty irrelevant as far as weights go. The only one that matters legally is the ULW and GVW that is stamped on the VIN plate. If the weights on the log book are different to the plated weights, the weights stamped on the VIN plate are what matter.

My chassis plates state the same

This must have popped up on every car forum I've ever been on and always end with loads of different ideas, rules and suggestions on what is and what isn't legal.
I was always under the impression that post-2000 licence holders could tow 750kgs un-plated only.
Had VOSA, Police and my driving instructor tell me that so far. But drove around with my twin axle car trailer for 4 years without a problem.

Got my HGV Class 1 licence now so don't care anymore. :D

I was under the impression that you can tow a combined weight of up to 3500KG using a braked trailer (if over 750KG), if your vehicle has a 2750KG or more GVW then its extended up to a maximum combined 4250KG so you can tow a 750KG unbraked trailer. You can tow a larger trailer providing your trailer MAM and vehicle GVW dont go over the 3500KG limit (i.e. a 1500KG trailer and a 2000KG vehicle) but at this point I usually end up confussing myself and give up...

I am in the process of doing my C+B & MGV licenses so soon I wont care anymore...
